Items are the products or SKUs you track in Retrac. Each item has catalog details and on-hand quantities at each location — managed via stock adjustments and transfers.

Open the inventory page

Sign in to app.retrac.co and open your workspace. Click Inventory in the sidebar.

Click Add item

Click Add item in the toolbar, or press the C keyboard shortcut.

Fill in required fields

Enter:
  • Item code — your SKU or unique product code
  • Description — name or short description
  • Cost — unit cost (used for reporting)
Optionally add a Supplier.

Assign tags (optional)

Use the Tags section to search and attach one or more tags. If you have no tags yet, create them under Inventory → Tags.

Set opening quantity (optional)

If a location is selected in the inventory page header, you can set an Opening quantity for that location.
If no location is selected, opening quantity is skipped. Use Adjust stock afterward to set quantities.

Create the item

Click Create item. The new item appears in your inventory list.

After creating an item

  • Edit — open the item’s menu → Edit to update catalog fields and tags
  • Adjust stock — set or change on-hand quantity at any location
  • Duplicate — copy an item with the same details (stock is not copied)

Plan limits

Your workspace has a total items limit based on your plan. This is a cumulative cap — it does not reset each month. When you reach the limit, you cannot add new items until you upgrade or delete existing ones. See Billing & plans and Items documentation.
